Shaw Brothers Studio: Lau Kar-Leung

Lau Kar-Leung, best known for his movies which he made during the 1970s and 1980s for the Shaw Brothers Studio, is one of Hong Kong’s most famous martial arts filmmakers, choreographers, and actors. Here, in a compilation of some of his most well known films, the mastery of SIFU is displayed. Leung, also credited as Liu Chia-Liang, has overseen his style taught through his students Mark Houghton and Sin Kwok Lam at his Lau Family Hung Gar Kung Fu School in Hong Kong and is still active in movie making at all levels. There is no one like him, and nothing like his films. Credited as an inspiration to artists ranging from Wu-Tang Clan to Quentin Tarantino, his influence reaches around the globe and through our music and films. If you’re a fan, I hope you like my dedication; if this is your first time, sit back and enjoy the ride.
